Growing up in the Tampa Bay area I had the luck to meet Lee Roy Selmon on multiple occasions. This is a loss more than just losing a great football player. When you think of Tampa Bay sports its not possible to put to the forefront Lee Roy Selmon.
From the start of the franchise for the Bucs to helping USF beat Notre Dame in South Bend this past Saturday nothing none of it would be possible without him. He was an ambassador to the Tampa Bay Community, but that is just to sports. He was extremely active in the community to his last days.
From my experiences as a little boy to meeting him when I was much older I can say it was a pleasure to be able to meet him. I can only hope the Tampa Bay area can have more athletes like him. He set the bar so early for the athletes in Tampa Bay as he was the most notable of all athletes when the Bucs began.
RIP Lee Roy Selmon you will be truly missed.
